Lions Head to Ohio for Pair of Games, Including Nationally-Televised Tilt

HAMMOND, La. – After a quick victory at home, Southeastern Louisiana University’s men’s basketball will head back on the road for a pair more games. This week’s schedule includes a Wednesday night nationally-televised match against Xavier and a Saturday game against Dayton, which will be on ESPN+.

The Lions (4-3), get national exposure when they face Xavier in a nationally-televised contest. The Musketeers (4-3), dropped two of three games at the Phil Knight Memorial Classic, Portland, Ore. They beat Florida 90-83 to open it, but lost to two top-ten ranked teams in close games. Xavier lost a 71–64 decision to #8 Duke and then fell to #6 Gonzaga by an 88–84 score.
 
Jack Nunge’s 16.3 point per game is leading the way with five Musketeers, who have averaged double-digit points this season. Souley Boum averages 15.9 points per contest. Colby Jones scores 15.7 points. Zach Freemantle, Adam Kunkel and Colby Jones are Xavier’s top scorers with 11.5 and 13.4 points per games, respectively. No other Musketeer averages 5 points per game or higher than Xavier. Xavier averages 82.4 per game on 51% shooting.
 
Opening tip of Wednesday’s game against the Musketeers at the Cintas Center is scheduled for 8:30 P.M. EST/7:30 p.m. CST. The match will be televised live on FS1.
 
Saturday’s match-up between the Flyers and the Lions will be in Dayton at noon. The Flyers (3-4) started the season 3-1. But their trip to Atlantis for Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas ended with three losses: a 43-42 loss against Wisconsin, a 75-64 defeat at North Carolina State and a 79-75% stumble in overtime to BYU. Dayton hosts Western Michigan Wednesday night, before Saturday’s match with Southeastern.
 
DaRon II, who averages 14.3 points per game, leads the Flyers scoring. A trio of Dayton players average double-digits in scoring include Kobe Elvis, who averages 10.1 points per games, and Mustapha Azzil, who averages 10 points per match. Dayton averages 62.9 Points per game and shoots at 41.4% as a team.
 
Tip-off of Saturday’s game against Flyers is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. EDT/1:00 P.M. CST at University of Dayton Arena. The game will be streamed via ESPN+.
